Guerilla Science

"To combine 'science' with 'music festival' may seem counter intuitive. Which is exactly why we do it."

I figured the occasional post sans music might be warranted should the appropriate content make it self known. So, there I am enjoying my coffee at the Hutch in Seattle (they actually enforce no food/drink in the lab) and perusing The Scientist magazine, when behold our two word moniker, music science. Digression: Ale for better or worse this is true for you too, at least until we graduate. The founder of Guerilla Science, also despondent about a future in academia, decided to to capitalize on the growing hipster furor over science. The rest is the stuff of our dreams:

Of course, this means we are obligated to dress in gorilla suits with labcoats during SxSW and regale badge holders with stories of long branch attraction and selection in relation to sex.

Oh, what the hell it's Tuesday morning and time to dance!!!

  1. I do think a dose of scientific earnestness would be lovely at south by southwest. What is less hipster than actually believing in something? I'll begin preparing a presentation.

  2. Barrett Klein is a pioneer of this concept. Every Halloween, he uses his costume to illustrate random people on the street.
